Concert of the viola da gamba faculty in Church of St. John the Baptist

This course – with a very strong emphasis on chamber music – offers professional instruction on the above instruments for early music enthusiasts and modern instrumentalists with an interest in Baroque and Renaissance music.

The instruments of the Orpheon Foundation, consisting of violins, violas, violoncelli, violoni and violas da gamba from the 16th to the 18th C., restored to original condition, will be made available to interested players of modern instruments.

This is a unique opportunity for musicians to get acquainted with these old instruments and their repertory. The participants will prepare a concert to be performed at the end of the course.

This year we will be presenting for the tenth time our Summer Academy for Early Music in the marvellous Renaissance city of Jindrichuv Hradec, Czech Republic, located on a lake between Prague and Linz. The accompanying concert series by the members of the international faculty will be presented in the city’s historical monuments form the 12th to the 18th C., which include the castle, the palace and several churches.
